Obituary of Michael A. Bunnick
Roebling: Michael A. Bunnick, age 81 of Roebling, New Jersey departed this life Saturday, April 29, 2023. He was born in Trenton to the late Valentine Bunnick and Elizabeth Rebeles Bunnick. Michael was a resident of the Village of Roebling for his entire life. He retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Pensions after his many years of employment with McGraw Hill. Michael served his country with honor in the US Army National Guard. Michael and his brother Louis were members of the Jersey Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Bunnick was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Church in Roebling throughout his life. He served as president of the parish council and together with his wife, Maryann unselfishly supported the church activities for many years. He was an unwavering Florence Township sports enthusiast and supporter of the Florence Township athletic programs. Mick was captivated by the beauty of iris flowers, participating in many iris festivals and flower shows. Michael enjoyed playing golf with family members and friends in his Golf League’s over the years. Perhaps, his greatest joy was fulfilling the role of Dzedo to his beloved grandchildren and the annual family vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey. Michael was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Maryann Bordas Bunnick, his twin brother, Louis V. Bunnick and his brother-in-law, Richard Sweeney. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Regina and Gene Hinchey and Michael and Kristen Bunnick, his adored grandchildren, Madelyn, Nadia, Kelly and Michael, his sister, Valerie Sweeney, his in-laws, Elizabeth "Betty" Bunnick, Bernadine and John Jakim, Joseph and Christine Bordas and Madeline and Cornel Rebeles and his lifelong friend, Louis Borbi and his wife Carol and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Church, 180 Alden Avenue, Roebling with Rev. George David officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Thursday 9:00 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Interment will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Cemetery, Mansfield Township.
