Obituary of Romeo Sowards

Roebling: Romeo Sowards, age 81 of Roebling, New Jersey entered his eternal life surrounded by his loving wife and family on July 1, 2022. Romeo was born in Myra, Kentucky, to the late Robert Lee and Pricy Sowards. He was raised in Ohio and graduated Stockdale High School in 1959. Romeo moved to New Jersey and worked for Ford Motor Company for 36 years. Romeo was a family man who enjoyed Westerns and old-time country music. He found joy in sitting on the porch, being with family and watching his grandchildren play. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ivory, Ira, Tivis, Archie, sisters, Bertha, Pearl, Monnie, Phyllis, May and two great grandsons Braydon and Maxwell. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary, four daughters and their spouses, Tammie (Robert Cruser), Ronda (Carl Bamberger), Mary (George Moore), Sara (Matthew Rutch), his brothers, Olvie Gene Sowards and Robert Sowards, his sisters Lexie Johnson and Boleina Scaggs, seven grandchildren Amber, Shelby, Dakota, Alissa, Hunter, Romeo and Keanu, one great granddaughter Payton, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and Friday, July 8, 2022 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
