Obituary of Shirley E. Billick
Shirley Elizabeth Billick (neé Conrey) of Florence, NJ left this earth peacefully to receive her angel wings on Monday, January 25, 2021. A devout Catholic, she is now reunited in heaven with her husband of 63 years, John, her daughter, Kathy and her granddaughter, Kerri Lyn. Shirley was born on July 28, 1931 in Roebling, NJ. She was the third child of the late Paul (Gyp) Aloysius and Martha West (Parker) Conrey. Shirley was a mischievous, ornery and outgoing young girl. Part of her spunk and stubbornness was due to her Irish heritage which she remained true to throughout her entire life. Shirley loved Saint Jude, her patron saint, balancing her checkbook to the penny, completing the BCT daily crossword puzzle, her iPhone and texting, Alan Jackson country music, the Dallas Cowboys, vacations on LBI, Boost slushies, watching the Mass, Let's Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune and the Hallmark Channel on TV, cooking and baking for John and awaiting his critique and her faithful, furry canine companion, Sandee. Shirley was a cancer survivor, varsity cheerleader (FTMHS class of '49), a bank teller, a Hallmark Card Queen (she loved sending a card for ANY occasion) and past corresponding secretary of the HAS PTA, but most of all Shirley was a beloved wife, mother and mommom. In addition to her parents and husband, John, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen M. Billick, granddaughter, Kerri Lyn Swain and siblings Paul and Mary. She is the loving mother to Shawn, Karen, Joni (her primary caregiver) and John Paul (Kristen) and awesome mommom to Melissa, Kevin (LaToya), Ashley (John), Amber (Seba), Charlie, Kelly, Hannah and Henry and great grand mommom to Leah, Jaslyn, Riley and Noah. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Margaret), sister-in-law, Rosetta, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Shirley was a member of the 'Late Bloomers' along with Eleanor (Hoffy), Marie (Cous), Jimmie, Babs, Fern and the late Mary Ann and Gloria who enjoyed a circle of friendship that has lasted over 50 years. Shirley's family would like to acknowledge and express their sincere gratitude to: Dr. Matthew Basara, Dr Mark Finch, Acacia Hospice especially, Terri, Asri, Ruth, John (the singing chaplain), Bill (social worker) and Dawn (special caregiver). Mom, we love you and we miss you, but we are happy that you are now at peace and thankful that the Lord has called you home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 11:30 AM at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ with Rev. Cesar Anson officiating. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Interment will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Florence. Facial coverings are required. Social distancing protocols will be in effect. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Monastery of St Clare, 150 White Pine Rd, Chesterfield, NJ 08515 or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
