

Obituary of Helen Szathmary
Roebling: Helen Szathmary, age 99 of Roebling, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Mrs. Szathmary was born in Roebling, the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Simon. Helen called Roebling her home lifelong. She was a dedicated bookkeeper for more than 30 years. Helen was fond of traveling and will be remembered for hosting bus trips and numerous other travel excursions. Her strong personality enabled her to be a successful leader and create lasting memories for all who had the pleasure of traveling with her. She was an accomplished seamstress and also mastered the art of crocheting. Mrs. Szathmary delighted in preparing Hungarian cuisine and nurturing her family. She was a member of the Florence United Methodist Church and the Good Neighbors Senior Citizens in Florence. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Szathmary in 1993 and her siblings, Betty, Margaret, Mary, and Bertram. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Linda Szathmary, grandchildren, Jill and Kevin Laning and Kathy Szathmary, great grandchild, Davin Horner and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling with Pastor David Ledford officiating. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton Township. Social distancing and gathering restrictions will be in effect. All visitors will be required to wear a facial covering. Helen's family is grateful for your cooperation.
