Obituary of Anne Lukach

Roebling: Anne Haluska Lukach, age 89 of Roebling died Sunday surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. Mrs. Lukach was born in Trenton and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mitro Haluska. She resided in Roebling lifelong. In addition to raising her family, Anne taught piano to numerous students in the community continuing until she was 84 years old. Beginning with Rev. Eugene Lenner, Rev. Capistran Polgar and numerous other pastors, Mrs. Lukach was the parish secretary at Holy Assumption Catholic Church for many years ending her career with Rev. Adam Midor. She was the Holy Assumption Church organist and director of the adult and children's choirs for more than 50 years. Anne delighted the parish with beautiful choral arrangements for Sunday worship and Holiday celebrations. Mrs. Lukach was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Roebling, the Altar Rosary Society of the church, serving as past president and former member of Holy Assumption School PTA, serving as past president. Anne will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend who took much pride in her church, country and garden. May the example of her love, kindness, generosity and wisdom continue in the hearts and lives of all who knew Anne. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Marie Purdy, husband of 62 years, Matthew Lukach, siblings, Mary Arnold & Betty Haluska and is survived by her children and their spouses, John & Sylvia Lukach, Christine Greenaway, David & Deborah Lukach, grandchildren, Tiffany Lukach, Daniel & Tara Purdy, Eric & Laura Greenaway, Ashley Lukach & Kelly Ann Greenaway, great grandchildren, Mason Purdy, Leah Lukach, Elena Maria Greenaway, Ryan Purdy, Braelyn Lily Greenaway & Lauren Joan Purdy, nieces and nephew, Kathy Csizmadia-Smith & Dan Perro, Donna & Andrew McElrea, Patricia Warner & Robert & Carmie Arnold. Funeral will be Thursday 10:00 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11:00 AM at Holy Assumption Church, Roebling with Rev. Stephen Schuler officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the funeral home. A patriotic rosary will be recited 8:30 PM Wednesday. Interment will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Caritas of Birmingham-Medjugorje, 100 Our Lady Queen of Peace Drive, Sterrett, Alabama 35147 or a Veteran's charity of the donor's choice.
