Obituary of Stephen Hovart
Roebling: Stephen P. "Big Steve" Hovart, age 73 of Roebling died Tuesday. Mr. Hovart was born in Trenton and was the son of the late Steve P. and Elizabeth Kostrub Hovart. He resided in Roebling lifelong. Mr. Hovart retired from International Mill Service in Perth Amboy after 25 years of dedicated service and was also employed by Kate and Al's Pizza in Columbus Market for many years. Steve was an avid bowler participating in and winning many local bowling tournaments. He bowled at both the Holiday and Papp's Bowling Lanes. In addition to bowling, he was a Philadelphia Flyers fan and enjoyed fishing. "Dining Out" with his sister and other family members was his favorite pastime. His family meant the world to Steve, especially spending time with his three grandchildren. He will be affectionately remembered as the "Life of the Party"
Mr. Hovart was a member of Sts. Francis & Clare Parish, Holy Assumption Church, Life Member of the Florence Twp. Fire Department, serving as the chief driver for the Roebling Volunteer Fire Co. # 3 for 25 years and the NJ State Firemen's Exempt Association.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Clare A. Hovart and mother-in-law & father-in-law, Rita & Phil DiPaola. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Donna & David Ammiano, son, Stephen P. Hovart, sisters, Lois Grant & her family & Patricia Hovart & her family, grandchildren, Eryn, Christian & Jillian, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Donna & Joseph Frappolli, Judy Semtimphelter, Philip & Gail DiPaola and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Funeral will be Monday 10:00 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM at Sts. Francis & Clare Parish, Holy Assumption Church, Roebling with Rev. Adam Midor officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 2 - 6 PM at the funeral home. Firemen's Ritual will be 4:00 PM Sunday.
