Obituary of Edward Rau
Mansfield Township, Edward J. Rau of Homestead at Mansfield died Saturday surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Rau was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Grace Hayden Rau. Edward resided in Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Homestead at Mansfield in 1985. He was a retired quality control inspector, employed by Brooklyn Union Gas Company with 39 years of dedicated service. Enlisting at the age of 16, he served his country with honor in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Rau was a member of Sts. Francis & Clare Parish and the Holy Name Society of the church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Sara A. Sellito Rau and is survived by a nephew & spouse, Edward & Betsy Wargo, grandnieces, Susan Napoli, Julia Rice and Cory & Sara Wargo, great grandnieces & nephews, Carter Myles, Lily Wargo and Asher & Skyler Vaughn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at Sts. Francis & Clare Parish, Holy Assumption Church, Roebling. Friends may call Wednesday from 8:30 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Interment will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling.
