Obituary of Richard Muchowski

Palmyra, Richard A." Dick" Muchowski, Sr., died Sunday, September 10, 2017 after three months of a devastating Prion illness-Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease that first robbed him of his eyesight, and then his memory. His loving wife Barbara, as well as his children and grandchildren were by his side. He was 79. Dick was born October 12, 1937 in Buffalo, NY and was the son of the late Alois & Agnes Muchowski. He lived in Buffalo until he joined the US Army in 1956. Dick was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ where he met his first wife Susan. Dick and Susan were married for 30 years, lived in Florence and had six children together. Susan died in 1989. Dick remarried in 1991 to Barbara, moved to Palmyra and were together for 26 years. He was a bus driver for New Jersey Transit for 34 years, first doing charter work and then regular line work. Dick always had a good joke for his co-workers in the bus garage and was popular with all his passengers. After retiring, he continued to do charter work part-time for a number of years. Dick loved sports in general but he was especially happy playing competitive golf with the Pennsauken Seniors. He also loved watching the Florence Flashes play football and basketball. Some of Dick's happiest times were spent in Woodbine, NJ at CLR East, where he had numerous friends and golf buddies. In addition to his wife Susan, Mr. Muchowski was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Niedbala and is survived by his wife Barbara Connelly Muchowski, children and their spouses, Terri & Stephen Eells, Rich Muchowski, Jr., Mickey & Kim Muchowski, Joe & Denise Muchowski, Steve & Amy Muchowski and Matt & Erin Muchowski, step-daughter, Jennifer Griswold, grandchildren, Katelyn & Matthew, Sarah, Michael, Mark, Chase, Olivia, Ava, Lily, Timothy, Gregory, Lauren & Jordan, sister & brother-in-law, Maryann & Leonard Lewandowski, sisters-in-law, Pat Connelly & Deby Diem, brother-in-law, Rob Connelly and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be Saturday 11 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Ave. Roebling with Deacon Gary Richardson officiating. Friends may call 8:30 AM until time of service.
