Roland W. Phifer Jr.

Eastampton Twp.: Roland W. Phifer Jr., age 67 of Eastampton Township and Surf City died Monday, November 13, 2017. Mr. Phifer Jr. was born in Mount Holly and was the son of the late Roland W. Sr. and Delores DeMore Phifer. He resided in Medford before moving Eastampton Township 30 years ago. He was a retired administrator, employed by the Burlington County Board of Social Services with 30 years of service and served his country with honor in the US Navy during Vietnam. Mr. Phifer was a graduate of Burlington County College and was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame, was a graduate of Glassboro State College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and was a graduate of Rutgers University with a master's degree in public administration. After his retirement, he pursued a career as a clinical chaplain serving Samaritan Hospice and Virtua Memorial Hospital. Roland's family was everything to him. His most treasured times were spent being the "Best Dadu" he could be to Abby and Alex. Roland also enjoyed going to the beach in Surf City and taking walks with his best buddy Jake. Mr. Phifer was a member of the Hedding United Methodist Church and was a certified lay minister of the United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Rogers Phifer, daughter & son-in-law, Lisa & Michael Trofe, grandchildren, Abby & Alex, sister, Nancy Phifer, sister & brother-in-law, Wendy & Steve O'Malley, mother-in-law, Grace Rogers and several nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the church for funeral services on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Hedding United Methodist Church, 2289 Old York Road, Hedding, with Pastor Neill Tolboom officiating. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Final disposition will be private.
